Expert Volunteers


Bochika’s Executive Team is volunteer-based and led by Phillip Rincon who is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Bochika and its programs. Bochika’s operations are overseen by the Board of Directors, led by Board President and co-founder Hayett Chater. Bochika’s extended team and advisory board consists of academics and professionals who volunteer their time and expertise to help Bochika fulfill its mission and vision.

 

Angelina Klouthis

Volunteer

Angelina Klouthis volunteers with Bochika in identifying grant possibilities for partners, creating new relationships both on-line and off-line, and creating connections to help Bochika partner organizations grow. She works as the Colombia Programs Manager with the Florida Association for Volunteer Action in the Caribbean and the Americas (FAVACA) and has over 7 years of development experience and volunteer programs. Throughout her career Klouthis has managed programs on a governmental level with USAID, the US State Department, Colombian Ministry of Labor, with prvate foundations such as Western Union, Money Gram, and the Jimmy Buffet Singing for Change Foundation, and many public private partnerships. She previously served as the Community Outreach Coordinator for the National Agricultural Research Center in Niger. Klouthis has designed and implemented training programs for grassroots organizations in Niger, Haiti, Nicaragua, and most recently in Colombia. She has worked directly with over 25 organizations in implementing social media strategies as a fundraising tool, grant writing, and community organization. Klouthis is fluent in Spanish and English and proficient in French, Haitian Creole, and Hausa. Klouthis has a BA in International Relations from Florida International University, a Post-Graduate Specialization in Organizations, Social Responsibility, and Development, and an MA in Interdisciplanary Development Studies from the Universidad de los Andes. 

Jason Coombs

Fundraising Volunteer

Jason Coombs, currently attends the University of Maine Augusta where he is working on a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration with a minor in Photography. He has been on the Brunswick Conservation Committee for 6 years and has worked in fundraising with local groups for the past 5 years. Jason Coombs is a former Marine with two children; his oldest son is also a Marines and his 10 year old daughter plays goalie for her soccer team year round.

 

Jason has also volunteered for other organization by helping with the construction of a local school projects in Tunisia, Spain and working with inner-city at risk youth as a soccer coach while stationed in Quantico, VA. Jason expects to work as a nonprofit fundraising coordinator once he finishes his degree. He loves warm weather and Caribbean food.

Laura Greene

Research Consultant and Grant Editor

Laura Greene is a research consultant and grant editor for Bochika. Laura achieved an M.A. in Latin American and Caribbean Studies from Florida International University in 2011, with a research emphasis on socioeconomics and security studies in Rio de Janeiro Brazil pertaining to Olympic development. During her graduate studies she worked at SOUTHCOM as an Executive Intern within the Public to Private Partnering Directorate. She also received her B.A. in Spanish linguistics from the University of Central Florida in 2009. Laura is also a Latin American wine enthusiast and loves to ride her Paso Fino horse, Lita, on her spare time.
